Terra Caetus

My boyfriend and I have this new game where I design a creature to the specifications he has set.
Introducing... Terra Ceatus.

This large carnivorous amphibian-type-creature "Terra Ceatus" hunts primarily in caves, merky waters, on land at night and occasionally in the 'twilight zone' of the deep sea when competition from other predators is too strong. It's diet consists mostly of fish as well as mammals around the size of a domesticated cat, but he is perfectly capable of killing larger prey such as Whales.

Terra Ceatus is a curious and intelligent creature, who uses his webbed feet to trap and confuse shalls of small fish. The species has developed a keen sense of smell to cope with living in primarily dark places. His sense of smell is so accurate that he can detect distance, heath and even the gender of the fish he is hunting.
Because of this sense of smell, he no longer needs vision to track prey and as such all members of this species are almost entirely blind. It's sight is so basic that it cannot see in colour, shape, or distance. He is only ever able to distinguish light from dark.

Terra Ceatus roughly translates to Land Shark in Latin.
